Xijiang Miao Village is located southeast of Kaili City, Guizhou provice, China. There are about 1,000 households in the village, so it is also called Qianhu Miao Village (Qianhu means a thousand households). The villagers build their houses at the foot of a mountain. The houses are mostly wood houses (those propped up by wooden supports with ladders leading up), or built with dark red maple wood blocks, which appear golden in the evening glow. The village enjoys a beautiful natural environment with green mountains and crystal water. It is also the homeland of Miao song and dance, and abundant local festivals. Welcome to China, Chinatourguide.com is pleasure to provide Guizhou tour for you, we also provide other China tours and indochina tours with local guide.
The Miao people have their typical architectural characteristic: wooden houses built tier upon tier on the hillside, dotted with bamboo groves. Lying amidst green mountains, the village enjoys beautiful settings, with the terraced fields rising up along the slopes and the crystal-clear Baishui River flowing through. It offers a more spectacular view when it's lit up in the evening.
The local exotic dress, daily life and the unique architecture of their wooden houses make Xijiang Miao village become one place where researchers can explore Miao people's history and traditional culture. Xijiang Miao people have a long history, which dates back to the Chiyou Tribe. Here, the Miao culture can be well preserved and developed. Each woman has her traditional clothing, head dress and other jeweler which is worn at special festivals throughout the year.
